The Farrside vineyard consists of black volcanic soil over limestone on a northeast facing slope. The vine rows run east/west to shade the fruit from over exposure. It is made up with a mixture of 114, 115, 777, 667 and MV6 clones. Matured in 50-60% new Allier French oak barrels for 18 months.

A Burgundian inspired Pinot that’s complex and powerful yet light on its feet.

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright crimson red hue. Potent aromatics of ripe dark cherries, plum and ripe strawberries subtlety laced with violets jump from the glass overlaid by infusions of dried clove, dried meats and spicy cedar. Light to medium weight the palate has a beam of freshness running through its veins and features a combination of red and dark cherry, strawberry and plum fruits that deliver terrific focus and power. Underscoring the richness of fruit are infusions of dried clove, some meatiness and well integrated spicy vanillin cedar. Finishes with bright acidity, very fine grained tannins and a long aftertaste of red and dark cherries, strawberries, subtle dried clove infusions, meaty characters and spicy cedar.
Cellar 6-8 years.
