2015 Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico

A great everyday drinking Chianti Classico from the excellent 2015 vintage.

A blend of 90% Sangiovese with the balance composed of Merlot and Syrah. Aging took place in Slavonian oak casks for approximately 9 months. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright dark red hue. The nose is quite fragrant with lifted red and dark cherry fruit aromas laced with fresh herbs sitting over earthy old cedar and spice notes. Light to medium bodied the palate is generously flavoured with savoury ripe red and dark cherries which fuse well with dried herbs, some earthiness and old spicy cedar. Dryish finish with finely grained tannins and good bright acidity. Excellent balance concluding with an aftertaste of spicy red and dark cherries, old cedar, earth and dried herbs.

Plenty of ripe fruit with dried strawberry and cherry character. Hints of rose petal. Full body, round and velvety textured with a long and flavorful finish. Dusty tannins. Seriously intense. Drink or hold.
