2014 Woodlands Cabernet Merlot

A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 6% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot that saw 14 months maturation in French oak barrels. Opaque black crimson red colour with a dark crimson red hue. Fragrant ripe blackcurrant aromas are followed by traces of bay leaf intermixed with cigar box characters, a hint of black olive and spice. Medium weight with plenty of rich blackcurrant fruit yet still elegant in its mouthfeel the palate also possesses nuances of cedary tobacco, bay leaf and spice. Dryish finish with sturdy but fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of blackcurrant infused with bay leaf, cedary tobacco characters, black olive and spice.
