2014 Vasse Felix Filius Cabernet Merlot

Produced from a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot and1%Cabernet Franc with maturation taking place in French oak (8% new) for a period of 12 months. Opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Lifted mulberry and blackcurrant aromas are overlaid by bay leaf with cedary tobacco notes and spice following on. Medium bodied with an elegant refined feel the palate has flavours of mulberries and dark cherries intermixed with cedary tobacco characters followed by traces of black olive and spice on the finish. Refined tannins and finely tuned acidity provide the structure. Long aftertaste of mulberries, cedary tobacco characters, faint bay leaf and spice.
