Winemaker Ben Riggs takes a ruthless, John West approach to culling barrels that make no contribution to the flavour profile of Tatiarra's top wines. This ensures that the company's flagship wines are the best they can possibly be and over deliver in an extraordinary way.

Incomparably rich and concentrated for its price point, this is a case of over delivering on a grand scale.

Incredible colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark crimson red black hue. Heady aromas of liquorice, blackberries and subtle dark chocolate waft from the glass followed by some spicy vanillin oak with pepper end notes. Mouthfilling flavours of liquorice and blackberries along with confectionary infusions flood every corner of the palate underpinned by spicy vanillin oak and dark chocolate with subtle pepper also evident on the long finish. Powerful, lush and juicy with a sturdily built tannin structure providing the framework. Long aftertaste of ripe blackberries, liquorice, dark chocolate, toasty vanillin oak and spicy pepper.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 15%

Other Reviews....
Unapologetic shiraz in its powerful, rich, glory, from the warm climes of Heathcote. Is what it is, done well by Tatiarra. A singular vision for the variety from Tatiarra too. Kudos. Ben Riggs continues to be the winemaker of these hearty wines.
Lavish scents of freshly lathed wood, nougat, tobacco and pencil shavings over fig and date jam, black currant and liquorice scents. A complex message, one could say, but delivered with a swift right hook. Chewy, palate-sticking stuff to taste. Choc-berry, clove, nougat, sweet spice. A warm, fleshy mass of red wine with its ears pinned back with firm ropes of tannin. Power is the game, delivered in a satisfying, lip-smacking way. Drink : 2017 – 2022
