Over the years Rockbare has developed a flair for producing big rich South Australian reds that are chocka block full of flavour and over deliver big time. This 2014 rendition of their McLaren Vale Shiraz is no exception. Maturation took place in a combination of new (67%) American, French and European oak along with some 1 year old oak for a period of 19 months.

It’s hard to imagine being able to pack any more richness or concentration into a $18 Shiraz than this Killer Value!

Magnificent colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Alluring aromas of liquorice and ripe blackberries are followed by some ripe black cherries, subtle dark chocolate, lightly smoked vanillin oak and spice. Full bodied with outstanding richness and a fleshy plush textural feel the palate is flooded with ripe blackberries, liquorice and ripe black cherry flavours over vanillin oak and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Terrific concentration and length for the modest asking price finishing with a long aftertaste of liquorice, ripe blackberries, subtlety smoked vanillin oak and spice.
