The Golden Plains Chardonnay is sourced from three south-west Victorian vineyards made up of 50% Geelong fruit, 25% Henty and the remaining 25% from just south of Ballarat. Matured in a combination of French oak puncheons and barriques (40% new) for 8 months on yeast lees, after which it was blended in tank and left on lees for a further 2 months prior to bottling.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a slight tinge of green around the edges and a watery hue. The nose displays scented white peach, pear and dried honey top notes followed by some light cashew and spice. The palate has good richness along with an elegant creaminess about its textural feel exhibiting flavours of white peaches, citrus and some dried honey followed by subtle cashew nuances and spice. Finishes fresh with a long aftertaste of dried honey melded into fresh white peaches, citrus, subtle cashew and spice.
Cellar 4-5 years.
