2014 Penley Estate Argus Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc

An excellent Coonawarra blend displaying elegance and good mid palate richness with a smooth textural feel.

Produced from a blend of 43% Shiraz, 26% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc with barrel ageing taking place in French oak (5% new) for a period of 18 months.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Beautifully scented aromas of blackberry, liquorice and blackcurrant meld into some choc mint followed by vanillin cedar and spice. Medium weight the palate’s richness is complemented by a supple elegant mouthfeel with generous flavours of blackberries, subtle liquorice and blackcurrant overlaid by choc mint followed by nuances of spicy vanillin cedar and faint earth. Velvet smooth perfectly integrated tannins. Excellent depth with a long conclusion of blackcurrant, blackberries, choc mint and spicy vanillin cedar.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
