Personally tailored by Mr Riggs this high end offering comes appropriately dressed in a dark blue bound presentation box that even smells like a new suit! Fruit is sourced from Ben’s own Piebald Gully vineyard in McLaren Vale whilst the Coonawarra Cabernet component comes from Weatherall vineyards. Maturation took place in a mixture of French (80%) and American (20%) oak, of which 35% was new, for a period of 22 months.
Impenetrable inky black at its heart with a deep dark red black hue. Powerful aromatics of blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice flow out of the glass complimented by cedary tobacco like notes, dried herbs, earth, hints of leather and spice. Exceptionally rich and concentrated the palate is awash with cassis, blackberry and liquorice fruits which overlay a back drop of vanillin cedar, tobacco, earthy leather nuances and spice. Opulently textured yet at the same time showing great refinement it shows outstanding depth and intensity. Fine grained tannin structure with a long, rich, driving finish. Trophy winner at the London Wine Competition 2021.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
