2014 Mr Burke's Favourite Big Red

Matured in new American oak. Totally opaque black purple colour with a deep dark purple hue. The nose shows good aromatic intensity with freshly crushed berry aromas of blackberries, dark plums and liquorice followed by some spicy vanillin oak. Plump and rich the palate has luscious blackberry liqueur, dark plum and liquorice flavours on the front palate but then a strong toasty vanillin oak overlay moves in swamping the finish. Very fine grained velvet like tannins. Aftertaste of toasty vanillin oak, blackberry, liquorice and spicy earth. The toasty oak is too prominent.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
