Examples of Australian whisky that make it to the desks of international reviewers are few and far between. So it's reassuring for consumers and the industry alike to see the efforts of our distillers vindicated on the world stage. Even moreso from the likes of Jim Murray. He reviews over 1100 new whiskies every year which in itself provides a unique perspective you have to respect. We've secured a tiny parcel of this cask strength gem from Larks - barrel No.473 which previously held Port. See Murray's glowing praise below...

Other reviews... a beautifully bright nose: the muscovado sugars are dripping with greengage and black cherry. Not sure the spices could be more effective or disarming. Hold tight: the taste buds are under immediate bombardment from rabid spices which have not the slightest intention of taking prisoners; the rich, soft fruit looks on helplessly; thankfully a big dollop of ulmo honey early on helps cushion the blows; remains juicy to the end, though it takes a while for the spices to recede. A little blood orange bitterness creeps in ; and I'd always thought Hobart was a freindly town...
