2014 Kaesler Avignon Grenache Mourvedre

A blend of 72% Grenache and 28% Mourvedre sourced from 85 year old vines and matured for 15 months in 3 year old French oak barriques. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Nosing yields aromas of dark raspberries and dark plum followed by a hint of liquorice, vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Medium bodied with a ripe juicy textural feel that verges on being plump, the palate has flavours of dark raspberries, plum and liquorice over earthy vanillin cedar. Spicy finish with a trace of heat evident. Velvet smooth tannins. Spicy aftertaste of juicy dark raspberries, plum, liquorice, earthy vanillin cedar and pepper.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
