Totally opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Showing good perfumed lift the nose features aromatics of liquorice, spicy fennel and dark plum followed by some dried meats, smoky vanillin cedar characters, dried herbs and spicy pepper. Medium bodied, very elegant and possessing a supple mouthfeel the palate features a flavour profile of ripe red plums and liquorice infused with notions of fennel and other fresh herbs over a background of dried meats, light smoky cedar and spice. Slightly dryish finish with still bright acidity combining with a refined tannin structure. Excellent length with a savoury conclusion of spicy red plums, liquorice, fennel, fresh herb infusions, some meatiness and smoky cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.

Other Reviews....
Cool climate Syrah writ large. Lovely chatting with the owners at the last Rootstock festival.
Cracked pepper, grilled meat, blackcurrant, lavender and dried herb, even some kind of sweet wet earthy stuff. Medium bodied but dense, all the juicy small dark berries, a lick of juniper, layers of spice, a fine sweep of emery tannin, and an intense finish, with that rich fine tannin trailing in its wake. It’s a damn fine Syrah.
