2014 Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz

Very deep, near opaque dark red black tinged colour with a crimson red hue. The nose displays aromas of spicy dark cherries, faint liquorice and meaty characters with a light smoky cedar overlay and blackpepper end notes. Light to medium weight and very elegant the palate has subtle flavours of spicy dark cherries and dried meats followed by some light clove infusions, smoky cedar and blackpepper. Dryish finish with slightly chalky tannins and fresh acidity providing the structure. Aftertaste of spicy dark cherries, dried meats, clove, smoky cedar and blackpepper. A light, elegant Northern Rhone styled Shiraz.

This has class stamped all over it from the moment you first taste it, sweeping away any necessity to describe the colour or bouquet; it creates a sparkling river of dark fruits that run from the tip of the tongue through to the elegant, but oh so complex, finish and aftertaste.
