Outside of Champagne, Bouvet is the most awarded Sparkling Wine House in France, garnering praise from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Decanter Magazine and others.

After many years of ownership by Champagne Taittinger, Bouvet Ladubay is once again fully owned by the Monmousseau family who have continuously run the business since their purchase in 1932. Bouvet Ladubay employs precisely the same wine making process as Grand Marque Champagne, delivering French sophistication at an everyday price.

Our best selling Bouvet and a perennial favourite of customers, this is as good as it gets for a $20 Sparkling.

A blend of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grapes the 2014 Saphir pours well with a buoyant frothy white mousse and pale straw base wine colour. The bead is very fine and shows excellent persistence. Nosing reveals pear and baked apple aromas which marry into some yeast lees and light bready notes with hints of lemon sherbet following on. The palate delivers an abundance of flavour for its modest price making for attractive everyday drinking. Generous flavours of pear, apples and flashes of lemon sherbet are interspersed across the palate with yeasty lees and bready characters ensuing. A precise line of acidity enlivens the back palate leaving a refreshing finish. Medium to long aftertaste of pears, baked apples, lemon sherbet, yeast lees and faint toast.
Drink over next 2-3 years.
