Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark to brick red hue. Aromas of dark cherries and hints of violet are overlaid by prominent whole bunch characters that include clove and other dried herbs. Smoky cedar and spice following up as end notes. Very supple texturally the palate like the nose has a strong whole bunch influence which tends to drown out the fruit on the back palate. Initial dark cherry flavours are overwhelmed by dried clove, herbs, smoky cedar and spice. Finely integrated tannins. Aftertaste of dried cloves, spicy herbs and smoky cedar.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc 13%

Other Reviews…..
Primarily MV6, but also clones 114, 115 and 777, 80% whole bunches, 20% destemmed, open-fermented, wild yeast, 25-27 days on skins, pressed to French hogsheads (one-third new), after 12 months racked to older barriques for a further 7 months. Deeply coloured; a very complex, full-bodied pinot with dark berry fruits, spice and oak on the bouquet and an opulently textured palate; firmish tannins ex whole bunches and acidity keep the wine corralled. Drink by 2024.
