2014 Balnaves of Coonawarra Shiraz

Fruit was sourced from 40 year old vines with the resultant wine matured for 18 months in a combination of new (35%) and second fill French oak. Totally opaque black as night core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated aromas of blackberry and liquorice laced with choc mint emanate from the glass over vanillin oak and spice. A combination of rich blackberry, liquorice and choc mint flavours adorn the medium to full bodied palate under scored by toasty vanillin cedar and spice. Slightly dryish but fine grained tannins. Medium to long aftertaste of ripe blackberries, liquorice, choc mint, toasty vanillin cedar and spice.
