A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot from a 1969 planted vineyard. Excellent colour displaying a black red core with a deep dark crimson black tinged hue. Enchanting aromatics with ripe blackcurrant, a touch of liquorice and mulberry prevailing over vanillin cedar, a faint hint of bay leaf and spice. Riper and richer than the 2012, yet still supremely elegant the palate is filled with blackcurrant and mulberry fruit over some cedary tobacco characters, light earth and spice. Quite supple in its mouthfeel with very fine grained, perfectly integrated tannins. Excellent length with a long aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberries, subtle cedary tobacco characters and spicy earth.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 13.5%

Other Reviews….
A 70/15/10/5% blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot planted in '69, matured for 20 months in 100% new French barriques. Deep crimson-purple, it proclaims its regal birth with the first whiff of the bouquet, the first sip of the palate. Always great, this medium to full-bodied wine pushes past previous vintages with the sheer perfection of its flavour profile, mouthfeel, and, above all else, its balance. Drink by 2053.
