‘The Steve Jobs of Wine’ is how Forbes magazine coined famed Napa winemaker Paul Hobbs. This is our second shipment from his Argentinian project Vina Cobos and in typical Paul Hobbs fashion these are all flamboyant, richly textured efforts loaded with gob smacking fruit. They are in essence a very new world rendition of Argentina’s wines whether it be Chardonnay, Malbec or Cabernet.

A Richly concentrated blend with a long chewy finish

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot and 10% Malbec the 2013 Cocodrilo was matured in American oak (20% new) for 15 months. Superb colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black tinged hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberries, black cherries and liquorice bound from the glass with underlying scents of dark chocolate, subtle earth and spicy vanillin cedar. Tremendously rich and concentrated yet not quite as weighty and texturally full as the 2012, the palate possesses beautiful fruit purity delivering a mouthfilling flavour profile of ripe blackcurrant, black cherry and liquorice followed by some meaty characters, subtle earth and spicy cedar. Chewy finish with solidly built but fine grained tannins. Exceptional length with a long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, liquorice, blackberries, subtle earth and spicy cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 15%
