Matured in French oak barriques for 10 months. Semi translucent bright dark red colour with a dark crimson red hue. The nose provides good perfumed lift opening with violet and dark cherry top notes followed by a hint of complexing stalk, subtle meatiness and spicy cedar. Light in body weight the palate is very savoury with bright fruit flavours of dark cherries and subtle strawberries intermeshed with gamey meat like characters and spicy cedar. Velvet smooth perfectly integrated tannins. Good power wave with a savoury medium to long aftertaste of dark cherries, subtle gamey meatiness and spicy cedar.
Drink over next 4-5 years.
Made from 15 long-term contract vineyards, 40 batches in all; largely open-fermented and hand-plunged; 90% matured in French oak for 10 months (15% new); 10% matured in tank. Infinite attention to detail has been handsomely repaid in this utterly delicious, silky pinot; highly fragrant red fruits drive the perfectly balanced and very long palate. Great entry point wine, great value. Drink by 2023.
