An Outstanding cool climate Shiraz with a level of richness that defies its origins

Matured in new to 4 year old French barriques for 16 months. Superb colour displaying an inky black core with a deep dark crimson red black hue. Pronounced ripe blackberry and liquorice aromas are followed by some black cherry liqueur, vanillin cedar, faint earth and spice. Rich, round and voluptuous the palate has a succulent opulence about it that’s very McLaren Vale like. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberries, liquorice and dark plum flood the palate with nuances of vanillin cedar and spice also present. Velvety tannins further enhance the wines immediate appeal. Excellent depth with a long aftertaste of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum and spicy vanillin oak.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Destemmed, 5-day cold soak, wild-fermented for 7 days at 28C, matured in new and used French barriques for 16 months. The deep, intense colour hoists the battle colours of an extremely powerful shiraz that nonetheless is not extractive, nor with dead fruit; blackberry compote, licorice, tar, spice and pepper are all on parade on the full-bodied palate. The longer you give it, the better it will be. Drink by 2043.
