2013 Pedestal Cabernet Merlot

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot with maturation taking place in a combination of new and 1-2 year old French oak barrels for a period of 10 months.

Winemaker Larry Cherubino has fashioned a Cabernet blend that possesses both richness and class as well as great affordability.

Totally opaque black crimson colour with a deep dark crimson red hue. Refined aromas of blackcurrant and mulberry with a cedary overlay greet the nose. Underlying nuances of earthy tobacco and spice are also present. Medium bodied with richness interplaying against elegance, the palate is all class and features mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackcurrants, liquorice and dark mulberries over spicy cedar and faint earth. Sturdy structure with beautifully integrated fine grained tannins. Excellent depth with a long conclusion of ripe blackcurrant, a faint touch of liquorice, subtle earth and spicy cedar.
