2013 Paul Osicka Heathcote Shiraz

Totally opaque black dark purple colour with a deep dark purple hue. Pronounced liquorice, ripe blackberry and dark plum aromas arise from the glass over a backdrop of vanillin oak, confectionary and spice. Full bodied, rich and inky the palate bares closer resemblance to a traditionally styled Osicka Shiraz after a couple of indifferent lighter releases. Inky blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours fill the mouth followed by vanillin cedar and spicy pepper. Firm dry tannins impart some chewiness on the finish and give the wine a very muscular mouthfeel. Bright acidity with a long aftertaste of inky blackberries, liquorice, vanillin cedar and spicy pepper. A rich yet very structured Paul Osicka Shiraz that’s going to require some long term cellaring to fulfil its potential.
