Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Aromas of blackcurrant and traces of mulberry meld into vanillin cedar, tobacco characters and subtle earthy dried herb notes. Rich and medium to full in body, mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant sit over toasty vanillin cedar, tobacco, black olive and spicy dried herb characters. Grainy tannins provide a good framework. Aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, toasty vanillin cedar, tobacco, subtle scorched earth and spicy dried herbs.
Cellar 5-6 years.

Other Reviews…
A complex 70/20/10% blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec from Frankland River, Denmark and Mount Barker, formerly called Heathbank Meritage. The bright crimson-purple colour might be expected from a newly bottled 18 month old wine, setting the wine off to a flying start. It then ticks all the boxes, with perfect structure underpinning the interplay between cassis, bay leaf, cedar and fine tannins. Drink by 2028.
