Mount Langi Ghiran’s Mast Shiraz pays tribute to Trevor Mast. Each vintage an individual parcel of top fruit will be selected to make this wine. The 2013 ‘Mast’ Shiraz fruit was sourced from House Block 4 on the Langi property which possesses many similarities to its older sibling the ‘Langi’ Shiraz. This block was hand-picked with meticulous attention to taking only the best fruit, essentially vineyard sorting and the wine includes quite a considerable whole bunch maceration component which provides exceptional perfume, spice and delicate tannins. Maturation took place in French oak barriques of which 40% were new and 60% 1-2 years old for a period of 15 months.

Superb colour saturation displaying an inky black core with a deep dark purple hue. Showing good intensity aromas of liquorice, clove and dark plum arise from the glass with a spicy peppery overlay and some dried meat characters also present. Medium to full bodied the palate boasts excellent richness with flavours of dark plums, liquorice and clove moving elegantly across the palate followed by underlying vanillin cedar, meaty characters and a peppery finish. Very fine grained perfectly integrated tannins provide an excellent framework. Superb power with a long persistent aftertaste of peppered dark plums, liquorice, clove, dried meats and spicy vanillin cedar.
Cellar 8-10 years.
