Coonawarra’s reputation is firmly established for Cabernet Sauvignon however producers such as Bowen Estate are equally capable of producing Shiraz that rival some of the best from more renown Shiraz producing regions such as McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley. Still family owned and operated by Doug and Joy Bowen, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves their daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things.

Rich and powerful this is a solidly built Bowen Estate Shiraz that will age gracefully over coming years.

Totally opaque inky black colour with a very dark purple black hue. Pronounced aromas of liquorice and blackberries arise from the glass followed by some toasty oak and blackpepper. Full bodied the palate possesses a level of weight and richness that’s rarely seen in Coonawarra Shiraz outside Bowen Estate itself. Opulent liquorice, blackberry and black cherry flavours fill the palate with underlying toasty vanillin oak and blackpepper. Excellent structure and depth with solid very fine grained tannins and well balanced acidity. Long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, toasty vanillin oak and spice.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 15.5%
