2013 Balnaves of Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot

A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot matured for 16 months in French oak, 50% of which was new. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. The nose displays a pronounced aromatic profile of ripe blackcurrant and choc mint over vanillin cedar and spice. Full bodied with abundant blackcurrant and choc mint fruit richness supported by a firm back bone of furry tannins. Nuances of vanillin cedar and spice are also apparent. Dryish finish with an aftertaste of blackcurrant, choc mint and spicy vanillin cedar.

Excellent crimson-purple; the bouquet is aromatic and inviting, the palate with a balance of blackcurrant, mulberry, black olive and herbs, oak adding its own flavour as a bonus. Drink by 2028.
