2012 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Cabernets

Yet another exceptional vintage for Margaret River, the 2012 Heytesbury is a wine of great richness and distinguished class further cementing Heytesbury’s position as one of the region's elite Cabernets.

A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec and 7% Petit Verdot with maturation taking place in French oak, 54% of which was new for a period of 18 months. Opaque black dark crimson red colour with a dark crimson red black tinged hue. Nosing provides both terrific aromatic intensity and complexity with a scented profile of blackcurrant, mulberry and cedary tobacco characters blossoming from the glass with trailing nuances of black olive, dried herbs and spice. Rich and powerful, yet elegantly textured and with an air of aristocratic refinement the palate boasts mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant and mulberries which dominate over a background of cedary cigar box like characters, fresh tobacco, subtle black olive, dried herbs and spice. Very fine grained tannins are perfectly interwoven with the fruit providing a solid underlying framework that will ensure a very long cellaring life. Magnificent depth finishing with an exceptionally long aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberries, cedary cigar box, black olive, subtle bay leaf and spice. A wine of impeccable balance, structure and richness.
