Valle Secreto' are a small producer with 36 Ha of low cropping vines (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Carmenere). They’re committed to producing wines from varieties which “express their potential with the local climate and special characteristic of the soil they are in.” Not that the Chileans don’t believe some places are better than others to grow grapes. 'Alto Cachapoal' is located in the newly designated (although still voluntary) Andes geographic zone and is warmer and drier than the coastal regions, and has greater diurnal temperature variation than vineyards on the wide valley floor. This lends itself to Shiraz in the elegant, pepper spectrum and Cabernet akin to Barossa Valley styles from leaner years.

Features a rich flavour profile weaved into a structured and elegant mouthfeel.

A blend of 34% Syrah, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Carmenere with maturation taking place in French oak for 18 months. Opaque black dark crimson colour with a dark crimson red hue. Pronounced aromas of ripe blackcurrant are intermixed with black olives and a touch of liquorice with tobacco like characters as an overlay and a spicy cedar background. Medium to full bodied the palate features a rich flavour profile weaved into a structured and elegant mouthfeel. Flavours of blackcurrant and blackberry intermingle with a touch of black olive, cedary tobacco characters and spice. Excellent persistence and length. Dryish finish with solid but fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, black olives, cedary tobacco and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%
