2012 Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Quartage

Quartage is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot and 12% Merlot with maturation taking place in French oak for 12 months. Opaque black colour with a deep dark crimson red black hue. The nose exhibits lifted ripe blackcurrant aromas followed by some dark plum and a hint of liquorice followed by some subtle earthy cedar and spice. Full bodied showing terrific richness and depth for its tariff, the palate is swamped with ripe blackcurrant, dark plum and dark chocolate flavours over a back palate of cedar and spice. Slightly chewy on the finish with solid robust tannins providing the necessary support yet are very well integrated. Long ripe blackcurrant, liquorice, cedar and spice aftertaste.
