The Marchese Antinori Riserva, first produced in the 2011 vintage, is a selection of grapes from the Tignanello estate’s vineyards located at Mercatale Val di Pesa in the Chianti Classico production zone. The 2012 is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet with maturation taking place in French and Hungarian oak barrels for approximately 12 months.

Very deep near opaque dark red black colour with a very dark red hue. The nose is quite perfumed with scents of dark cherries intermixed with hints of violets, earthy cedar, some leathery tobacco and spice. Light to medium weight and very savoury the palate possesses good richness with flavours of dark cherries intermeshed with earthy cedar, a touch of leather and spice. Elegant smooth textural feel with a dry finish. Super fine grained tannins. Medium to long aftertaste of dark cherries, earthy cedar, a touch of leather and spice.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews….
A red with dried berry, lemon rind and chocolate character. Fruity and silky on the palate. Beautiful and flavorful. Excellent. Drink or hold.

The 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is distinguished in this lineup for its freshness and aromatic intensity, both signatures of the Tignanello estate. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint and cinnamon are some of the notes that meld together. Lithe, medium in body and gracious, the 2012 is wonderfully refined from start to finish. Today, my sense is that the 2012 still has room for improvement. Drink 2016-2027.
