2012 Standish The Relic Shiraz Viognier

This wine pours an amazing glass staining inky black purple colour that’s totally impenetrable with a very deep dark purple black hue – you couldn’t wish for a better start to a wine. Exotic aromas of ripe dark plum, blackberry and liquorice waft from the glass overlaid by some subtle vanillin oak and apricot nuances. Rich and exuberant the palate features a voluptuously textured mouth feel with densely concentrated flavours of perfectly ripened blackberries, liquorice and dark plums intermixed with some subtle smoky vanillin cedar, exotic apricot and spices. Super impressive power and depth with a silky polished tannin structure. Exceptionally long aftertaste of dark plum, blackberry, liquorice, lightly smoked vanillin cedar and spice.
