2012 Sons of Eden Pumpa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

Pumpa is Sons of Eden's tribute to one of the pioneers of Eden Valley viticulture, Len Pumpa. A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Shiraz that also incorporates a 5% Tempranillo component with maturation taking place in a mix of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 15 months.

Totally opaque inky black colour with a deep dark crimson red black hue. Generous aromas of ripe blackcurrants and liquorice arise from the glass followed by some dark cherry over a background of vanillin cedar and spice. Rich, concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry flavours flood the palate overlaying some liquorice, vanillin cedar and spice. Excellent depth. Solid in structure but fine grained in nature the tannins are perfectly integrated with the rich fruit. A long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice and spicy vanillin cedar follows. A superb blend.
