Smidge Wines are the private venture of highly acclaimed Two Hands winemaker Matt Wenk. He has a midas touch when it comes to discovering outstanding vineyards and transforming their remarkable fruit into world class wines.

Rich and concentrated with a commanding presence on the palate this is an Outstanding McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Matured for 24 months in French barriques of which 15% were new. Impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep black bright dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice and confectionary aromas emerge from the glass followed by some ripe blackberries, vanillin cedar and pepper. Rich, dense and powerful the palate features plushly textured flavours of ripe blackberries and liquorice followed by some dark plums, dark chocolate, vanillin cedar and spice demonstrating outstanding concentration and depth. The tannin structure is quite solid showing a sense of firmness yet is for the most part concealed by the layers of opulent fruit. Exceptionally long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry, vanillin confectionary and spicy pepper.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.8%
