2012 Smidge Wines La Grenouille Cabernet Sauvignon

A Great McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon possessing both richness and structure.

Sourced from vines over 40 years old the wine was aged in 2-4 year old French oak barriques for 12 months. Totally opaque inky black core with a deep dark crimson red black hue. Lifted ripe blackcurrant aromas are followed by some black cherries with cedary overtones and light cigar box, black olive and spice end notes. Full bodied the palate is flooded with ripe blackcurrant and black cherry flavours which overlay some liquorice, cedar and spice. A solid robust tannin structure provides the framework and gives the wine some grip on the finish. Excellent length with a long ripe blackcurrant, black olive, liquorice, cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
