Matured for 14 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barriques.

Opaque black dark red colour with a bright dark red black tinged hue. The nose is quite perfumed with scents of liquorice and subtle blackberries overlaid by some light clove with cedar and blackpepper notes following. Medium to full bodied with good richness the palates generous fruit is held in check by an elegant yet solid structure featuring flavours of blackberries and liquorice interwoven with some vanillin cedar and meatiness followed by a peppery finish. Very fine grained yet solidily built tannins give the palate a slightly compact feel. Long aftertaste of blackberries, liquorice, toasty oak and blackpepper.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews…
Sourced from the 90-year-old block adjacent to the winery and from other old plantings in the region; open-fermented and hand-plunged, matured in new and used French barriques for 14 months. The black fruit iron fist in the flowery, spicy velvet glove will guarantee the wine a prodigiously long life; it has the innate balance and length the region can provide like few others.
