The Oliver family have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale since the 1840s. Their descendants arrived from Scotland and settled in the McLaren Vale district, raising sheep and cattle as well as establishing an orchard and vineyard. Today, the emphasis still remains on growing super premium quality grapes for other winemakers (around 85% of their production is sold to the likes of Penfolds) whilst a small portion of the best fruit is retained for sale under their own Oliver's Taranga label.

The Oliver’s describe the 2012 vintage as spectacular – low yields and perfect vintage conditions combined to produce Shiraz fruit of great intensity and richness with this concentration carrying through to the resultant wines.

‘Hailed as a great vintage this wine showcases all its glory.’

Magnificent colour showing superb saturation with an inky black crimson core and very deep black dark crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice waft from the glass of this decadently scented Shiraz with subtle nuances of mocha, vanillin oak and spice following. Rich and opulently textured, explosive flavours of ripe blackberries and dark chocolate engulf the palate followed by some liquorice, vanillin confectionary and spicy oak with a good bright acid structure that maintains the wines freshness. Velvet smooth plushly textured tannins. Excellent depth with long rich aftertaste of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, vanillin oak, mocha and spice.
