The first vintage of Oliver's super premium Shiraz called the 'HJ Reserve' was produced in 2000 as a tribute to the memory of H.J. 'Bert' Oliver. Fruit for the H.J. is sourced from a single block planted in 1948. Described as a Spectacular vintage by winemaker Corrina Wright these old vines have delivered fruit of great intensity. Maturation took place in French oak (50% new) for a period of 30 months.

A rich, concentrated and velvety McLaren Vale Shiraz to die for.

Impenetrable inky black dark red colour with a deep very dark red black tinged hue. Heady aromas of liquorice, ripe blackberries, dark plums and dark chocolate with a mocha overlay waft from the glass followed by vanillin oak and spice. Rich, full bodied and opulent with an extravagant generosity of fruit the palate is layered with concentrated flavours of liquorice, ripe dark plums, blackberries and dark chocolate intermeshed with mocha, vanillin oak and spice. Broad expansive fleshy mouthfeel with silky, polished tannins. Outstanding power and depth with a very long conclusion of liquorice, dark plums, dark chocolate, mocha and spicy vanillin oak.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
