Central Otago had a top growing season in 2012 compared to the rest of New Zealand which struggled with unsettled cool weather. Mud House’s Bendigo vineyard was blessed with warm stable weather from late spring to harvest in early March, keeping the disease pressure low. The fruit was able to slowly develop through the season, with harvest commencing when the grapes reached optimum ripeness. A portion of the wine was aged in French oak barriques with the remainder matured in stainless steel tanks to retain the bright fruit characteristics.

Semi translucent dark red colour with crimson red hue showing good depth. The nose exhibits aromas of ripe dark cherries, a hint of anise, subtlety toasted cedar, earth and spice. Light weight the palate has generous flavours of ripe dark cherries, dark plum and anise followed by some toasty oak and spice. Fine grained tannins. Good power with long ripe dark cherry, anise, earthy cedar and spice aftertaste.
