Personally tailored by Mr Riggs this new high end offering comes appropriately dressed in a dark blue bound presentation box that even smells like a new suit! Fruit is sourced from Ben’s own Piebald Gully vineyard in McLaren Vale whilst the Coonawarra Cabernet component comes from Weatherall vineyards. Maturation took place in a mixture of French (80%) and American (20%) oak, of which 35% was new, for a period of 2 years.
A beautiful fusion of richness, elegance and style.
Impenetrable black core with a deep dark red black hue. The Cabernet component surprisingly dominates the sophisticated nose dispelling alluring aromatics of blackcurrant, mulberry, blackberry and subtle liquorice which meld into cedary tobacco, subtle dried herb and light spicy bay leaf notes. Rich and plush in its textural feel this very classy blend has both elegance and poise along with expressive yet refined fruit delivered with great power. The palate is redolent in blackcurrant, mulberry and more subtle liquorice fruits which are complimented by a very polished tannin structure. Also evident are cedary tobacco characters, traces of dark chocolate, earth and spice. Superb length and balance with a very long, refined aftertaste.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
