This is the first release of a new label from Mount Langi Ghiran that pays homage to Trevor Mast. Each vintage an individual parcel of top fruit will be selected to make this wine. The 2012 ‘Mast’ Shiraz fruit was sourced from House Block 4 on the Langi property which possesses many similarities to its older sibling the ‘Langi’ Shiraz. This block was hand-picked with meticulous attention to taking only the best fruit, essentially vineyard sorting and the wine includes quite a considerable whole bunch maceration component which provides exceptional perfume, spice and delicate tannins. Maturation took place in French oak barriques of which 40% were new and 60% 1-2 years old for a period of 15 months.

A Superb tribute to Mount Langi Ghiran’s first winemaker – Trevor Mast

Totally opaque black red colour with a deep purple red hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackberries, liquorice and plum are overlaid by clove with toasty cedar and blackpepper scents following. Full bodied the palate boasts rich ripe blackberry and liquorice flavours with underlying clove, dried meats and cedar finishing with a burst of blackpepper on the back palate, Superb power and depth with a robust yet fine grained tannin structure providing a great framework. Very long aftertaste of liquorice, blackpepper, blackberry, clove and spicy dried meats.
