The Lime Cave Cabernet takes its name from a 60 metre long man-made cave, hand-dug in 1916 into a solid limestone hill above which, sitting on the crest of the hill, are 19 rows of “Reynella Selection” Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Planted in 1972, these vines originate from those brought into South Australia by John Reynell over 150 years ago.

An Opulently fruited Cabernet with a sturdy mouthfeel and firm structure.

Matured in French oak hogsheads for 24 months of which 30% were new. Superb inky black colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. Intense blackcurrant, cassis like aromas are followed by liquorice and black cherry with underlying cedary tobacco and spice. Full bodied, rich concentrated blackcurrant, black cherry and liquorice flavours swamp the palate over a background of black olives, cedar and spice. Firm grippy tannins impart some chewiness on the finish and provide an excellent framework for long term cellaring. Plenty of depth and structure here with a long aftertaste of blackcurrant, subtle liquorice, cedary cigar box, dried herbs and spice.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 14.5%
