Kurtz Family Vineyards are fourth generation Barossan grape growers and vignerons of German descent. Wine maker Steve Kurtz has significant access to old vine fruit including the original vines which were planted in the 1930’s along with vineyards planted in the fifties and sixties.

Matured in a mixture of new and older French and American oak hogsheads for 27 months. Totally opaque inky black colour with a deep dark crimson red black hue. Intense liquorice and black cherry aromas are followed by more subtle dark plum, vanillin oak and blackpepper scents. Rich concentrated liquorice, black cherry and mocha flavours are overlaid by some smoky oak with vanillin characters and pepper on the finish. Plush opulent mouthfeel with velvety tannins. Long peppery, black cherry, liquorice, mocha and smoky oak aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc 15%
