2012 Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Shiraz

Established in 1997, Kilikanoon has quickly established a reputation for producing world class, iconic Shiraz from vineyards located in the Barossa & Clare Valley. Winemaker Kevin Mitchell also produces more budget priced offerings, producing wines that offer ‘Killer Value’ under the Killerman’s Run label, with fruit now being sourced from entirely low yielding Clare Valley vineyards.

US wine guru Robert Parker describes Kilikanoon as “one of the most brilliantly run wineries in Australia….. thanks to the enviable talents of winemaker Kevin Mitchell.” 2012 was a stellar vintage for Clare Shiraz with warm days and cool nights and the largely dry conditions leading up to and during the vintage period, being instrumental in creating Shiraz of tremendous varietal definition, texture and fine natural tannins.

A Rich Joosy Clare Valley Shiraz that’s overflowing with flavour.

Outstanding colour saturation exhibiting an inky black dark purple core and deep very dark purple hue. The nose offers up aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plums and liquorice over vanillin confectionary and some subtle spice end notes. Rich with a supple opulent texture the palate boasts a sumptuous flavour profile of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice followed by some vanillin oak and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Excellent length with long persistent aftertaste of ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and spicy vanillin oak.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2013-2019).

Bright crimson-purple; the palate is crammed to the gills with the luscious black and red fruits promised by the bouquet, expertly executed oak and tannin management the icing on the cake. Its value for money is a reflection of the quality of the two Kilikanoon tiers of super-premium wines above it. Drink 2027.
