‘A Big old fashion styled Kay Bros Shiraz with abundant rich chocolatey flavours and a plush mouthfeel’

Matured for 20 months in American and Balkan oak barrels. Totally opaque inky black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Scented aromas of ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice ooze from the glass followed by mocha, vanillin oak and spice. Rich, full bodied and opulently textured the palate boasts concentrated flavours of dark chocolate, ripe blackberries and liquorice with underlying nuances of mocha and spicy vanillin oak. Plush fleshy mouthfeel with velvety tannins and a long conclusion of dark chocolate, blackberries, liquorice, mocha and spicy vanillin oak.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
The vines come from cuttings of the 120yo vines on Block 6, re-establishing the 4.85ha hillside vineyard. Open-fermented, basket pressed, matured for 20 months in American and Baltic oak. Deep crimson-purple; full-bodied, but more approachable than Block 6, its brooding black fruits and bitter chocolate balanced by good tannin and oak, providing a very long palate. Drink by 2037.
