2012 Katnook Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Matured for 22 months in 60% French and 40% American oak barriques. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black hue. Nosing offers up scents of ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and dark chocolate over some vanillin oak and spice showing very good intensity. Medium to full bodied the palate has generous, richly textured flavours of ripe blackcurrants, dark cherries and subtle dark chocolate followed by some vanillin cedar and spice. Velvet smooth tannins have an underlying solid backbone. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate and spicy vanillin cedar. Cellar 6-8 years.
