2012 Felino By Vina Cobos Malbec

Akin to riper styled Bordeaux, the Felino red selections are intended as food friendly wines for early consumption.

This is a blend of 93% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot that saw 8 months maturation in a combination of American and French oak barrels of which 20% were new. Superb colour displaying a totally opaque black dark purple core and a deep very dark purple black tinged hue. The nose offers up aromas of black cherries and incense followed by a touch of liquorice and some scorched earth with spice end notes. The palate is loaded with succulent fruit flavours of ripe dark to black cherries alongside some liquorice and blackberry with trailing spicy scorched earth like qualities on the back palate. Dryish finish with solid tannins that are for the most part balanced by the volume of fruit. Long rich aftertaste of blackberries, black cherries and spicy scorched earth.
