After selling out of the 2013 vintage in a matter of days, we have been able to secure a very small parcel of the 2012 which like the 2013 effort is loaded with fruit and possesses enough structure for further cellaring.

A largely unknown Estate to us, Eagles Rest has its base in the Hunter Valley. Established in 2007 it began life growing fruit to sell to the likes of Brokenwood and then employed highly regarded Brokenwood winemaker PJ Charteris to produce wines under its own label. For several vintages it branched out of its Hunter boundaries sourcing some high quality fruit from the Eden Valley.

Reduced from $35 down to $15, this is a great buy, but you’ll need to move like lightning to secure stocks as we only have a very limited supply.

Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep dark red black hue. Wafting out of the glass are aromas of liquorice, plum and fennel which overlay spicy vanillin cedar, a subtle meatiness and pepper. Silky in its texture and full bodied the palate is decorated with rich liquorice and dark plum flavours which gives the mouthfeel plenty of flesh. Following on is some well integrated smoky vanillin cedar, fennel, light earth and pepper. Bright balanced acidity and velvety tannins provide plenty of structure for further cellaring. Long seductive aftertaste of dark plum, liquorice, fennel, subtle earth, lightly smoked vanillin cedar and pepper.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.5%
