Matured for 18 months in older French and Bulgarian oak barriques this Mataro possesses excellent fruit purity and depth. Opaque black dark red colour with a bright dark red black tinged hue. The nose displays pronounced ripe blackberry and liquorice aromas followed by some black cherry and light smoky oak. The palate has impressive generosity with rich ripe flavours of dark plum, liquorice and black cherries over some vanillin oak and spice. Solid but fine grained tannins provide the framework. Good depth with a long ripe dark plum, black cherry, liquorice, vanillin oak and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
