Super saturated midnight black dark purple colour with a very deep dark purple-black hue. Potent aromatics of liquorice, black cherries and blackberries intermingle with dried meats, vanillin cedar, lightly scorched earth and black pepper. Magnificent power and richness with concentrated flavours of liquorice, black cherries and blackberries riding over a background of lightly toasted vanillin cedar, faint dark chocolate, scorched earth, some meatiness and black pepper. The fine-grained tannins have an underlying firmness providing great structure and a robust mouthfeel to the wine. Exceptionally long conclusion of blackberry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, dried meats and black pepper.
Cellar 10-15 years.
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Medium to deep garnet/purple, the 2012 Astralis (Shiraz) starts off with complex, meaty and earthy aromas wafting around a core of blackberry preserves, preserved plums, and mulberries with hints of licorice, Chinese five spice and potpourri. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, the multi-layered flavors have very spicy accents and are framed by ripe, grainy tannins. It has a very long and elegant finish with hints of exotic spices. Drink 2017-2030.
